One Sunday in North Beach: Mass at 10, step-off at 12:30

The Italian Heritage Parade steps off at Fisherman's Wharf at 12:30 p.m. and ends at Washington Square, with a 10 a.m. Mass and a bazaar on either side of the day.

The Sunday clock

Parade day in North Beach runs on three published clocks. High Mass is at 10 a.m. at Ss. Peter and Paul Church, 666 Filbert St. The parade steps off at 12:30 p.m. at the foot of Jefferson and Powell Streets in Fisherman's Wharf. The Saints Peter and Paul Bazaar is open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on both Saturday 10 and Sunday 11 October 2026.

The organiser gives the bazaar the same 666 Filbert St. address as the church, beside Washington Square, and the parade finishes in front of the church. The step-off point sits at the other end of the route, in Fisherman's Wharf.

Mass first, then the route in reverse

A group that takes the 10 a.m. Mass starts the day at the route's finish line. The walk from Washington Square down to the foot of Jefferson and Powell is the route in reverse, and it puts the group at the 12:30 p.m. step-off.

The organiser's entry application publishes the route at 1.3 miles. It starts at Beach Street and Jefferson Street, runs west on Jefferson Street to Leavenworth Street, then Columbus Avenue, Stockton Street and Vallejo Street, and returns along Columbus Avenue to Filbert Street. The parade page gives the start as the foot of Jefferson and Powell Streets.

The gap between the Mass at 10 a.m. and the step-off at 12:30 p.m. is two and a half hours. That covers the walk and a stop at the bazaar, which opens at 10 a.m.

The route and what it costs

The parade begins at the foot of Jefferson and Powell Streets, proceeds south through North Beach on Columbus Avenue and ends in Washington Square in front of Saints Peter and Paul Church. Parade viewing is available throughout the entire route.

Admission to the parade, including the Bank of America Concorso Italiano Auto Show, is free. The 2026 Grand Marshal is the actor Joe Mantegna, and the Civic Grand Marshal is Bernie Orsi. The organiser publishes no ticket and no gate line for the parade.

Watching from the street

Nine restaurants offer to seat guests on the street along the route: Original Joe's 415-775-4877, Piazza Pellegrini 415-397-7355, Tony's Pizza Napoletana 415-835-9888, Italian Homemade Company 415-712-8874, Palermo II Delicatessen 415-937-0161, Firenze by Night 415-392-8585, North Beach Restaurant 415-392-1700, Mona Lisa Mare e Monti Restaurant & Bar 415-398-1300 and Steps of Rome Trattoria 415-875-9721.

The organiser's line reads: These restaurants offer to seat guests on the street along the parade route. A prime and unique experience to view the parade! No cover charge, no reservation system and no parade-day menu publishes, so a group books the street seating by phone and keeps the route itself as the fallback, since viewing is available along the whole line.

The bazaar on both days

The bazaar runs 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday 10 and Sunday 11 October at 666 Filbert St., and the organiser lists games, food, rides, tasty beverages, music and the Blue Angels. On Sunday it is open two and a half hours before the step-off and for five and a half hours after it.

The parish school hosts the bazaar, the parents of Saints Peter and Paul School run it, and its profits go to the school, the Laura Viçuna Pre-K and the church. The school's page marks the parade tables sold out and sets seating from 11:30 a.m. with lunch service from noon. The Saturday session keeps the same hours, which gives a group arriving on Saturday an afternoon on foot in North Beach.

The Saturday calendar also carries Il Gran Ballo La Dolce Vita After Dark at 5:30 p.m. at the Westin St. Francis on Union Square, the one hotel the organiser's calendar names, with no rate, block or code published beside it.

Rooms for the Sunday night

Engine puts San Francisco at $165 a night across 3.1 million public rate observations from May 2024 to April 2026, on par rates for stays 10 to 180 days out. October averages $176, seven percent above the city figure, and March, the high month, $197. December is the low at $129, and 35 percent separates the cheapest month from the priciest. The city ranks 18th of 50 markets against a $148 median.

Dayuse lists an average of $119.61 for a day room in San Francisco and up to 75 percent off an overnight stay. Its San Francisco cards include Hotel Caza Fisherman's Wharf and the Axiom Hotel, both inside the parade's two districts, and that read publishes no per-property day rate.

Both averages are citywide figures. The parade's two districts sit inside them, and neither district publishes its own rate basis for the date.

Attendance, editions and room blocks

The organiser publishes no attendance figure and no 2026 edition number. Its most recent edition announcement is the 157th, dated 19 September 2025. The site carries no room block, no housing bureau and no cut-off date, and the nine restaurants publish no cover charge, reservation system or parade-day menu.

One Sunday holds all three parts of the day: the Mass at 10 a.m., the step-off at 12:30 p.m. and the bazaar until 6 p.m., with the route's two endpoints as the spine.
