Consolidated Travel has appointed David Galt to a newly created role of chief commercial officer, with a start in early October 2026. Travel Daily reported the appointment on 18 September 2026 and is the only outlet carrying it.
The hire reaches group travel through the seat and fare contracts a consolidator holds. Galt takes over the commercial function that owns those contracts.
What the role controls
A consolidator sells air inventory, fares and seats to travel businesses. Group operators buy seats through that channel. A group that needs 30 seats on one service, or fares held across a multi-leg itinerary, depends on the allocation the consolidator holds with the airline.
The chief commercial officer owns those airline relationships. Consolidated Travel managing director Dennis Alysandratos named the function directly in a statement: airline partners, customers and industry stakeholders.
The commercial terms a consolidator negotiates set what an operator can quote, how long a fare can be held, and whether a seat block can be adjusted when the headcount changes.
Galt's record
Galt ran Webjet's OTA division as chief executive from 2016, and his career at Webjet began in 2007. He left the business at the end of March 2026, as Travel Weekly Australia reports.
Outlets give different totals for the Webjet tenure. Travel Daily reports 18 years, its own February 2026 report says almost 19 years, and Travel Weekly Australia reports a career of nearly 20 years. The 2007 start and the March 2026 exit are consistent across the three.
Galt returns to the trade after about six months away. Travel Daily's article lead carries a seven-month figure, and the published dates give six.

“Dave has an outstanding record of delivering strong and profitable growth and his ability to build trusted and positive relationships with our airline partners, customers and industry stakeholders will make him a very valuable addition,” Alysandratos said.
He also said he was “absolutely delighted” to welcome Galt to the team.
Three items for an operator to track
Group fares. Structured group fare rules published across bookings would replace case-by-case quoting.
Trade service. Alysandratos named relationships with customers and industry stakeholders as the reason for the hire, and the operator and agent channel is the part of the business Galt is expected to work.
Airline terms. Group allocations come from the agreements Consolidated Travel holds with airlines. A change in what the consolidator can hold or release for a group shows up in what an operator can promise travellers.
What is open
Travel Daily is the only outlet carrying the appointment, and the start date is a forward-looking statement. “Early next month” was reported on 18 September 2026 and points to early October 2026.
