Thursday: the first packet window
The Monumental Health and Fitness Expo and Packet Pickup opens Thursday, Nov. 5, 2026 at the Indiana Convention Center. The doors run 4 to 7 p.m. ET. The window is three hours long.
Packet pickup moves at the same hours. A participant collects the race bib and the official clear gear check bag inside that window. A third party can collect on a runner's behalf with the official check-in pass carrying the assigned bib number and a copy of a government-issued photo ID. Digital copies of both work.
Two more desks sit at the expo. The Wave Change Station moves a runner between start waves, and final assignments sit with the event team and run subject to availability. Changing Footprints takes new and gently used shoe donations on both expo days.
Friday: nine hours to collect
The second expo window runs 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. ET on Friday, Nov. 6. Friday carries nine hours. Thursday carries three.
Friday is the last pickup window before race morning. A participant holding Race Day Packet Will Call can collect on race morning. Every other packet comes from the expo across its two days.
Saturday: gear check at 6:30, starts at 8
Gear check opens at 6:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 7 at Washington Street and West Street. The marathon and the half marathon start together at 8 a.m. The 5K starts at 8:40 a.m.
The gap from gear check opening to the first start runs 90 minutes. The gap from gear check opening to the 3:30 p.m. course close runs nine hours.
A pre-race warm-up area in the Expo Hall opens at 6 a.m., half an hour ahead of gear check.
The 5K lines up second
The 5K starts at 8:40 a.m. ET, after the marathon and half marathon runners leave the start line. The 5K course covers 3.1 miles through downtown Indianapolis.
The marathon and half marathon use a wave start. Runners line up in the wave their expected finish time earned at registration.
The course closes at 3:30
The course closes at 3:30 p.m. and the finish line closes with it. The marathon carries a seven-hour time limit. Runners hold a minimum pace of 16 minutes per mile to finish ahead of the closure.
Marathon runners reach the marathon and half marathon course split between miles 7 and 8 by 10:25 a.m. Half marathon runners hold the same 16-minute pace for the first ten miles.
No times are recorded after 3:30 p.m. for either distance. Finisher medals go to runners finishing inside the limit.
The 8 a.m. start to the close runs 450 minutes. The 8:40 a.m. 5K start to the same close runs 410 minutes.
Race-day packet pickup is a paid add-on
Race Day Packet Will Call is a separate purchasable product. A runner buys it during registration or adds it later through the Beyond Monumental participant account under Buy Products. Quantities are limited and run subject to availability.
The event publishes the hours and the location for Race Day Packet Will Call in pre-race communications. Only buyers receive them. A runner holding Will Call collects on race morning. Every other packet comes from the expo on Thursday or Friday.
The bag rule runs the weekend
Race morning accepts one bag. That bag is the official clear plastic gear check bag handed out at the expo. Every other bag is turned away. Bags are subject to search. Security removes unattended bags outside the gear check area. Gear left at gear check goes to a local charity.
Getting in and getting around
The city holds 73,000-plus parking spots around Indianapolis for race weekend. ParkMobile services most street spots and flat lots. The event publishes a traffic restrictions map and advises a navigation app, because construction continues around downtown.
The Indiana Convention Center sits one block south of the start and finish areas on Maryland Street. The center keeps a lactation room on its first floor, and the event FAQ states each private area inside holds a chair, an electrical outlet, a dimmable light and a side table.
Spectators can watch at mile 20. The organiser's own route to that point runs from the race site to Riverside Park and back by I-65 North.

The next edition opens on race weekend
Registration for the 2027 race opens during race weekend, Nov. 5 to Nov. 8, 2026. It closes at 11:59 p.m. ET on Sunday, Nov. 8. Registration reopens at 12 a.m. ET on Jan. 1, 2027, and the first 1,000 registrants lock the lowest pricing.
The event app carries race weekend schedules, maps and real-time participant tracking. The organiser lists the 2026 app as coming soon.
