What a Group Can Use at the Diamond Chain Site Today
Check the site before you sell it. Eleven Park was proposed as a 20,000-seat soccer-specific stadium on the former Diamond Chain Company site at 402 Kentucky Avenue, Indianapolis, owned and operated by the Capital Improvement Board of Managers of Marion County, with a $1 billion cost estimate for the total project and a groundbreaking on May 31, 2023. Wikipedia's entry now calls it a proposed stadium and states that as of January 2026 construction is in doubt following the City of Indianapolis' withdrawal of financial support.
The land itself is in use. The Indianapolis Business Journal reported on July 22, 2026 that the site was slated to become a soccer stadium and mixed use development, the project was halted, and the private developer is currently using it for event parking. Leon Bates, a member of the bridge project's Community Advisory Group, described another 23-and-a-half acres that need to be addressed on land privately owned by Keystone Group.

Indy Eleven Plays at Carroll Stadium
Sports travel to Indianapolis still has a home fixture. Indy Eleven plays in the USL Championship, and the club's Wikipedia entry places it at IU Michael A. Carroll Track and Soccer Stadium with a capacity of 10,524, expanded to 12,111. The same entry states that plans for a new stadium at Eleven Park are currently in doubt.
The January 2019 plan also described concerts, a women's team, college and high school soccer, football, field hockey, rugby and lacrosse. None of those uses exists on the Diamond Chain site today. Build the match-day leg around Carroll Stadium and confirm the current season's fixtures with the club before you publish a schedule.
The Greenlawn Memorial Bridge Opens in Early 2027
One piece of infrastructure on the site's edge is dated and funded. The $40 million Greenlawn Memorial Bridge, known until July 2026 as the Henry Street Bridge project, will connect Elanco Animal Health's headquarters in White River State Park to downtown Indianapolis and extend the Indianapolis Cultural Trail when it opens in early 2027, per the Indianapolis Business Journal. The Board of Public Works voted unanimously to adopt the name on July 22, 2026.
The bridge carries two vehicle lanes and 80-foot concrete rings as architectural elements, and serves as a Cultural Trail extension for walking and biking. The IBJ article records 1,709 grave shafts excavated at the site, remains to be examined and researched before reinterment, and $12 million and a year of work added by the decision to fully excavate.
Treat early 2027 as a target, not a date. The placement of the name is not final, and the city archivist, Jordan Ryan, describes a seven-year research span that is about three years in.
A Half-Day Loop From the White River
With the stadium unbuilt, the walkable content sits in the riverfront district around the site. Straight-line distances from the Eleven Park coordinates, computed from OpenStreetMap data read on 24 September 2026, run 324 meters to Victory Field, 528 meters to the JW Marriott Indianapolis, 530 meters to the Indiana Convention Center, 621 meters to Lucas Oil Stadium, 792 meters to the Elanco campus and 1,029 meters to the Indianapolis Zoo.
Keystone Group's project page describes riverfront activation and walkable connectivity into downtown through the Greenlawn Memorial Bridge and the Cultural Trail. The developer's FAQ page states that rezoning, demolition, site remediation and site work have been completed and the site is prepared for the next phase.
Build the half-day on the river, the trail and the venues inside a kilometer.
A Two-Night Indianapolis File
Sleep where the rooms are connected. The Indiana Convention Center's attendee hotels page publishes more than 7,100 downtown hotel rooms, 4,700 connected to the Center by skywalk and 200 restaurants within walking distance. The venue's Facility Guide gives 4,721 rooms connected to the Center, 7,175 within a six-block radius and 4,570 committable group rooms downtown.
New supply is dated. Visit Indy's new-developments page lists a $710 million, 143,500-square-foot convention center expansion with a 50,000-square-foot ballroom, connecting to a Signia by Hilton Indianapolis, anticipated to open in December 2026. The same page names a Kimpton at 167 rooms in 2027, a Ritz-Carlton at 176 rooms in 2028, a Westin at the airport at 253 rooms in 2027 and a Renaissance conversion at 378 rooms in 2028.
The market figures carry a March 2026 date. Bradford Allen, in a report published March 19, 2026, cites CoStar for 8.1 million room nights of demand in the twelve months to mid-year 2025, more than 580,000 above the pre-COVID peak, and cites a Downtown Indy Alliance report for 64.7 percent downtown occupancy, $135.20 RevPAR and a $209.11 average daily rate.
Dates to Hold and Dates to Verify
Two dates are firm enough to plan against: the Signia by Hilton Indianapolis and the convention center expansion in December 2026, and the Greenlawn Memorial Bridge in early 2027. Both are targets published by their sponsors.
Four items have no published answer and should not be promised to a client: a stadium start or completion date, a hotel operator or brand for the district, a rate or room-night projection for the block, and the outcome of the city's May 2024 offer to buy the site. That offer, in a letter of May 22, 2024, named no price and stated the city would pay the average of two appraisals. The IBJ reported on May 23, 2024 that archaeologists had found 87 burial plots in the excavation of a six-acre portion of the site, in what Keystone called the first phase.
Write the Indianapolis leg around Carroll Stadium, the connected downtown rooms and the riverfront trail. If the stadium site changes, the rest of the itinerary still holds.
