Why the island fits a half-day leg
Treasure Island sits in the centre of San Francisco Bay. The ferry connects the Ferry Building at Gate B to the island landing seven days a week. The operator's ferry page puts the average crossing at eight minutes, and its access page puts the trip at about 10 minutes. Tickets cost $5 each way. Children under five ride free.
A tour operator can build a half-day island leg and return the group to a downtown or East Bay overnight. The island's directory lists no visitor accommodation, so the stop works as a daylight add-on to a city stay. The leg runs on published transit, published park space and published venues.
What a visitor reaches from the ferry landing
The landing sits inside the waterfront plaza. The operator states that accessible pathways connect the ferry landing to parks, neighbourhoods and gathering spaces across the island.
Cityside Park covers six acres along the shoreline, with open lawns, promenades and seating and views from the Bay Bridge to the Golden Gate. The park holds Ned Kahn's Canopy of Sky, a kinetic sculpture suspended roughly 15 feet above the ground and built from thousands of translucent discs.
The two built anchors a client can see
Isle House is the tallest building on the island at 22 storeys, designed by David Baker Architects with 250 studio, two- and three-bedroom apartments and nine two-level live-work townhomes. It carries a roof deck and a ground-floor space the architects describe as suited to a cafe or other neighbourhood retail.
490 Avenue of the Palms is the first completed phase of the master plan, a six-storey building of 148 homes from studios to three-bedrooms in flats and townhomes, set along the edge of Cityside Park and offered under a serviced lease. The Palms Collection inside it is a limited release of 34 front-row homes with weekly housekeeping, wellness programming and car-service coordination.
On Yerba Buena Island, The Bristol carries condominiums for sale. Island Cove Market on Treasure Island sells grab-and-go food, drinks and everyday essentials.
Parks and shoreline for the leg
Full build-out carries roughly 300 acres of parks and open space across the two islands. Several parks are open now. Panorama Park on Yerba Buena Island holds Hiroshi Sugimoto's Point of Infinity, a 69-foot spire, and 360-degree views of the Bay Area. Buckeye Grove covers four acres of native gardens with 195 trees and more than 60 native plant species. Signal Point Park takes small gatherings. The Rocks Dog Park and Clipper Cove Beach sit on the island.
Timing the leg around the ferry and Muni
Muni route 25 runs from the island to the Salesforce Transit Center and along the Embarcadero every 20 minutes, every day. Each ferry takes up to six bicycles on a first-come basis. The operator publishes no island shuttle and no per-trip passenger capacity.
Weekday departures from the island run from 7:30 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. The last weekday sailing from Gate B leaves at 8:20 p.m. and lands on the island at 8:28 p.m. A leg that runs past that hour returns by road. Set the coach plan against the final sailing.
The market window and the island calendar
Off the Grid returns to Cityside Park on Saturdays from 12 September through 17 October 2026, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Admission is free. Food trucks and live music run through the afternoon. On those Saturdays the ferry adds crossings to and from the island between 10:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.
Mersea Restaurant & Bar runs live music on weekend afternoons. Gold Bar Whiskey Distillery & Tasting Room occupies a restored 1930s Art Deco building and runs guided tastings and cocktail classes. Aracely Cafe holds a landscaped patio and an indoor cafe. Treasure Island Wines runs guided tastings from an urban winery.
The overnight sits downtown
The master plan lists hotel rooms among the build-out components and publishes no room count. No hotel appears in the operator's directory of venues and services, and no delivery date is published. Bay FC broke ground on its training facility in 2025. The site covers approximately 8.5 acres with three training fields and becomes operational in time for the 2027 season.
