The walk from the block
The stadium connects to the convention center, several hotels and entertainment options through an enclosed pedestrian connector, per the complex facility guide. The guide counts 4,721 hotel rooms connected to the Center and 7,175 rooms inside a six-block radius.
The complex sits in a six-block area of downtown, bordered by the State Capitol, Pan American Plaza, Union Station, Capitol Commons, Circle Centre and Victory Field. The venue footer counts 200 downtown restaurants within walking distance.
Transit into the district
IndyGo route 90, the Red Line, runs through downtown on Capitol Avenue and runs via the Julia M. Carson Transit Center on Washington Street. Its downtown stops run from 18th Street and Capitol Avenue south to the Statehouse at Court and Capitol. Service began on 1 September 2019.
The line covers 13.1 miles and 28 stations. IndyGo's 2024 National Transit Database profile lists 1,402,365 riders across the Red Line and the Purple Line.
Coach access on Missouri Street
The convention center loading docks sit at 5 South Missouri Street and are entered from northbound Missouri Street, per the facility guide. The guide counts 49 docks across the complex and assigns hall docks by exhibit hall.
Lucas Oil Stadium carries 11 indoor docks, two vehicle ramps and an indoor 30,000-square-foot loading dock with 11 bays. The block and the convention center docks both front South Missouri Street.
What the build adds to a walking plan
The build adds 375,000 square feet of building, 204 parking spaces and about 6,500 square feet of commercial and retail space. The developer targets an opening in August 2028 after a two-year build from the September 2026 start.
The retail bay puts a street-level stop on McCarty Street. A rooftop Game Day Lounge faces South Missouri Street and Lucas Oil Stadium. The design follows the developer's building at 915 South Meridian Street.
What still needs a call to the city
No published source carries a pedestrian management plan, a sidewalk closure schedule, a coach staging area or a load zone for the construction years. No source publishes walking times for the district.
