Ridgeline Development Partners targets a fourth-quarter 2026 completion for a 116-room Motto by Hilton at 1 N. Meridian St. in Indianapolis, inside the 11-story King Cole building. The building door sits 126 meters from Monument Circle, and the downtown core falls inside a walkable ring that a group can cover without a coach.
A Base 126 Meters From Monument Circle
The building went up in 1915 as the Kahn Tailoring Co. Building and sits just south of Monument Circle. Ridgeline, a subsidiary of the Chicago hospitality design and development firm The Gettys Group, planned the restart for the second quarter of 2025 and targets the opening in the fourth quarter of 2026. The flag is Motto by Hilton. The record states 116 rooms, 11 stories and the Meridian Street corner, and IBJ published all three.
The Ring a Group Can Walk

Label these as straight-line. No publisher has printed a walking-time study for this set, so treat each figure as a floor on the distance rather than a schedule.
The Cultural Trail Is the Spine
Indy Cultural Trail Inc. states that 10 miles of trail connect the six cultural districts in downtown Indianapolis. The trail office sits at 132 W. Walnut St.
The trail's 20th-anniversary report, released in June 2026, covers the first groundbreaking in 2007 through 2024. It finds that the $63,000,000 invested in the first eight miles returned $3,000,000,000 in assessed property value along the trail. JLP+D conducted the data, research and analysis.
The June 2026 release behind the report counts more than one million people using the trail each year and 47 percent of downtown residents within a three-minute walk of it.
Guided rides come from the trail operator. Its calendar lists free community group rides on Saturdays from May through September, and private rides for a group. Rides depart from 132 W. Walnut St.
Richard G. Lugar Plaza is the stop to build in. The trail operator's page describes it as two acres on the Cultural Trail in the Market East Cultural District, the gateway to the City-County Building, and it carries the only interactive spray fountain downtown.
The Convention Center Connection and the Indoor Link
The Indiana Convention Center and Lucas Oil Stadium facility guide places the center in a six-block downtown area bordered by the State Capitol, Pan American Plaza, Union Station, Capitol Commons, Circle Centre and Victory Field. The center reports 4,721 hotel rooms connected to it, 7,175 rooms inside a six-block radius, and 4,570 committable group rooms downtown. Pedestrian skywalks link 4,717 of the 7,200 hotel rooms downtown to the center and Lucas Oil Stadium.
The Motto appears on the Visit Indy new-developments page, which lists pipeline properties. The connected-hotels page counts 12 hotels and 5,200 rooms in the connected set after the center expansion. An operator should confirm in writing whether the Motto joins that set, because the connected-hotel list does not carry it today.
Load-In, Docks and the Gap in the Record
Groups that ship ahead should use the published dock instructions. The facility guide puts the Indiana Convention Center loading docks at 5 South Missouri Street, entered off northbound Missouri Street, with the center's own dock on the west side. It counts 49 docks at the center, 11 exhibit halls covering 566,600 contiguous square feet, 71 meeting rooms at 113,302 square feet and three ballrooms at 62,173 square feet. Lucas Oil Stadium holds 11 underground loading bays and a 30,000 square foot dock area, also entered off northbound Missouri Street.
No document on the record sets a coach staging area, a loading zone, a traffic management plan, a pedestrian management plan, a shuttle cycle or a walking-time study for downtown. What the Motto Gives a Group on Foot
Visit Indy describes the property as boutique, with a rooftop bar and restaurant, a street-level cafe and a street-level bar, and it cites views of Monument Circle from the hotel. IBJ reports the rooftop bar and restaurant overlooking the Circle and the street-level cafe hold, and that Gettys and Ridgeline now expect to add a bar and lounge at street level, likely in the space the Qdoba restaurant occupied until late 2024. IBJ also reports the basement could be reconfigured into a high-end restaurant.
Two of those outlets carry the group value. A cafe at street level starts a walking day without a coach movement, and a rooftop bar closes it on the property.
Open Items to Request
Nothing reachable publishes the Motto's meeting square footage, banquet capacity or group rate structure. No page publishes a start-of-construction notice for the conversion, so the fourth-quarter 2026 date is a target and not a commitment. Ask the property for the room product mix, the meeting inventory, the group rate and the opening date in writing, and ask for the load-zone plan alongside the block request.
